Adam Green
Writer - Director
Originally from the small town of Holliston, Massachusetts, Adam Green received his Bachelor of
Science degree in Television and Film Production at Hofstra University in New York. After college, he
went on to work as a commercial Producer/Director for Time Warner Entertainment in Boston. It was there
that he teamed up with Director of Photography Will Barratt and the two began "borrowing" the equipment
after hours to make their own short films for fun.
Using the production moniker "ArieScope Pictures", they made a short spoof of 80's slasher films
called Columbus Day Weekend where slasher legends Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers stalked the
same campsite by mistake... and then fell in love with each other. Though Columbus Day was made
strictly to entertain friends, bootleg copies of the short film wound up gaining the attention of
Hollywood.
Without hesitation, Green wrote his first feature length screenplay, Coffee & Donuts,
based on his own life - and he and Barratt set out to produce it in secret overnight shoots during
the summer of '99. Using friends and volunteers as both cast and crew, three lights, and a video camera...
Coffee & Donuts was completed for a mere $400. In 2003 Coffee & Donuts was bought by
Walt Disney Studios/Touchstone Television and developed as a sit-com for UPN with Green writing
the pilot.
Since then, Green has continued to develop and work on original television pilots for the
networks. In 2004 he was tapped by Lions Gate to write a screenplay for the sequel to
Cabin Fever and in 2005, he wrote and directed the all-star feature horror film
Hatchet starring Kane Hodder (Jason), Robert Englund (Freddy),
Tony Todd (Candyman), Mercedes McNab (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Joel
David Moore (Dodgeball, Grandma's Boy), Deon Richmond (Cosby Show,
Not Another Teen Movie). Hatchet premiered to sold out crowds and rave reviews at
the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival and has since been selected for prestigious film festivals all over
the world. The film will have it's U.S. theatrical release in early 2007.
While still in post production on Hatchet, Green wrapped production on the dramatic
thriller Spiral which he co-directed with Hatchet's Joel David Moore. The film stars Moore,
Amber Tamblyn (Joan Of Arcadia, The Grudge 2), Zachary Levi (Less Than Perfect),
and Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica). Spiral will be ready to start screening over
the winter of 2007.
Upcoming Adam Green projects include his romantic comedy God Only Knows, which is set to
begin lensing early next year. He was also just attached to helm the big screen adaptation of the
popular graphic novel Dead West by Rick Spears and Rob G.
